How to get to Castel Sant'Angelo

On the Tiber’s right bank near the Vatican, the castle is easy to reach on foot, by bus or metro. The entrance is on Lungotevere Castello, near Ponte Sant’Angelo.

By Train

Metro A to Lepanto or Ottaviano, then a 12–15 minute walk. Buses 23, 40, 62, 280 and others stop nearby along the river or Via della Conciliazione.

By Car

Central Rome has limited traffic zones and scarce parking. Park outside the ZTL and continue by metro or bus if possible.

By Bus

Multiple lines connect the area with Termini, the historic center and the Vatican. Check ATAC for real‑time stops at Piazza Pia or Lungotevere.

On Foot

From St. Peter’s Square, it’s 10–15 minutes along Via della Conciliazione; from Piazza Navona, 10 minutes across Ponte Sant’Angelo.
